An outline of the proposed regulations can be found here https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviati...es-canada.html They include a reference to age requirements, starting at 14 years for drones starting at 250g (when you read drones don't think quadcopters, all of the stuff we fly is included).

However MAAC issued a statement on July 20, http://www.maac.ca/en/news_details.php?news_id=74 It says that there will be an exemption from the regulations for "MAAC and its members."

We are currently operating under the interim regulations found here https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/mediaroom/i...-aircraft.html These regulations don't have age/licensing requirements, but do explicitly give an exemption to " model aircraft operated at events organized by the Model Aeronautics Association of Canada (MAAC) or at airfields located in a zone administered by MAAC or a MAAC club." That wording is a bit different from the comment on the proposed regulations as it applies to operations at MAAC events and airfields rather than to MAAC members on a personal level. So, it could be an issue for individual MAAC members out flying in some arbitrary location, but seems to be fine while we are at the club.
