Indoor Challenge 2022
Hello indoor pilots,
I would like to propose a little game at the next dome session. It would be part of regular flying with no effect on people who don’t play. It is open to anyone with an indoor airplane that could do the maneuvers in the list below. No registering fees. Just give me your name when you arrive or in this thread. I think that with maximum 5 participants it should run smoothly. During approximately the first hour, participants practice as much as they want. I could answer questions and help improve the maneuvers or adjust the planes. Sometime during the second hour, the participants will perform up to 5 maneuvers in the list below and I will be judging and taking scores. The scores will be very simple. O: not done or really ugly or crash. 5: done, recognizable but not great. 10: well done. Choose maximum 5 maneuvers in the list below and perform them one after the other. Once the pilot has done his 5 maneuvers, he could go at it again. Maximum 3 rounds per pilot. The best round of each pilot count for compilation. There may even be some trophies ???? Maneuvers list: Straight flight, constant altitude for at least 5 sec Roll (more than 1 sec) Knife edge for more than 3 sec Inverted flight for more than 3 sec Loop (smooth elevator application) Cobra (up 45 degrees, down 45 degrees) Outside loop from inverted An example of the maneuvers is on this video: https://youtu.be/29aDYKPER0A Anyone interested? I am interested too.
Will it be a fixed maneuver list or will it change every session? |

We'll start with the list in my original post and depending how it goes, more difficult maneuvers could be used next time. It also has to be transparent for the other pilots who don't participate. That's why I selected maneuvers that could be done while flying the regular circuit.
If the interest grow enough, we could get extra time at the dome just for these who want to participate but then money will be involved. |

Sounds fun. I will try.
Have not fly indoor for 2 years. Probably rusted. ![]() |

Its important to keep to maneuvers that can be done while flying the circuit. At the same time the maneuvers must not be so difficult that they infringe upon non participating members who fly for fun and be allowed to fly the circuit at the same time.
