Learning the lessons well

As you are all probably aware I am relatively new at this hobby and I have a lot to learn, especially where to and how to buy my aircrafts and parts. For the most part I have had little to complain about however things are begining to change. I've recently purchassed a Dynam DHC-2 Beaver from Banggood that arrived with both wings warped and damaged. I sent Banggood pic's of the wing halfs and was promissed replacements within two weeks however after 3 weeks I have still not received the replacements. I resent another email asking Banggood where my wings are and they wrote back telling me that the Mfg, Dynam, needs pic's of the damage. I had already sent Dynam pic's of the damage at the same time I had sent them to Banggood. No solution in sight yet. I've also had other smaller issues from ordering parts from the internet however nothing that couldn't be settled amicably. This leads me to excercise caution where and what to buy from now on, especially when making large purchasses. It would be much safer to buy at a local dealer where one can at least inspect the product and have some recourse if there are issues. I AM LEARNING!!! I will be staying away from Dynam products in the future.

Sade story, It's also easy for those Rc web shops to try to put the blame on post service ethic for light damaging material. We suppose to be able to open shipping box in front of the postman...but who got time for...Certainly not them, they are on working rush... If it's only painting scratch, that's not so bad.a bit of TED's makeup and it's done. But if it's a crack in the wing or in the fuselage...that's an other thing

If you paid with Paypal you can open a dispute. If you used a credit card, call them and try to contest the payment and keep harrassing Banggood. It takes time but they usually give in because they don't want bad reviews. I have had a few issues in the numerous times I ordered from China but all of them were eventually resolved although at times it was a real hassle. RCCastle is the best for customer service and ordering airplanes, HK will give you the runaround a bit. In my opinion, local hobby shops do not necessarily give you better service it's just quicker.

I paid by Visa and I intend to open an inquiry into payment for damaged goods. At this point it's a matter of principale as I was able to straighten out the warped parts of the wings and replaced a small amount of foam that had broken off so I imagine it will be airworthy. That still does not solve the damaged goods problem. As Richard states, we should be able to open the package upon delivery but who does that in reality. We trust that Manufacturers have the ability to pack their product in order to survive shipping. Thanks for the come back!

Yup, we learn the hard way. Bought a heli kit for 200$ on a RCgroup site in Ontario and paid by bank transfer. Wanted to pay by Paypal but the guy did not want. If I would of paid by Paypal, maybe I could of had my money back. I will never pay again, by bank transfer or cheques unless local and I get the stuff before paying.
As far as opening the box when the mailman delivers, many times they leave the box on the front steps. I complained to the post office to no avail. In 20 years, luckily for me, only 2 boxes (stolen???) never arrived from Amazon, but never had problems with them, they just credit my card.

Thanks Andre for the come back. I guess if you look at the entire picture we all have a story or two. We learn by our mistakes. Looking forward to next month when the runway is clear and the sun is out with light winds.

My past experience with purchases from China, I never have ordered a huge purchase, but my experience has been positive. Never have an issue, but maybe I've been lucky.
Small parts, Pitts mufflers, strobes, spinners, servo extensions, small quads, etc...

Wayne you didn't have any joy with Amazon I remember and now Banggood is giving you the run around. I have been looking recently at Horizon Hobby and they seem quite reasonable on price apart from the currency exchange rate. I see they have a good range of electric planes and they have advertised some nice trainers and also a Pilatus from FMS models which has good reviews. The Pilatus comes with retracts at 299.99US and is an excellent flyer. I speak with experience as I had one and it was delightful to view in the air and easy to land even with deadstick not that electric suffers from that. Look it up and see what you think. If you don't want to risk ordering yourself Ted's or others will get it or anything else for you. Alternatively you can obtain free delivery within the US and then you can pick up from freight forwarding over the border at Plattsberg. Email me if you want more details heliraiserrjo@gmail.com or 4385024570.

Amend the figure of 299.99 to 199.99 $US for the Pilatus

I like to support the local hobby stores when the products and prices are comparable. Often they will match the online prices.
