Nice pic Greg. Nice poster.

I remember getting out of a botched torque roll at that moment.
I usually could maintain 2.5 turns. Got out hastily after one.
No one noticed my premature exit. I did...
Bad omen...

Nice poster indeed. Sorry to be picky but I believe it's not the best to say 'MAAC insurance is required'. It seems to indicate that MAAC is only about insurance. Steve, Bob and all the other MAAC representants are trying to make people understand that MAAC is not only about insurance. 'Current MAAC or AMA membership required' would be a better choice of word.

Well said Xavier. Transport Canada regulates aircraft through the CARs, however the regulations generally do not apply to model aircraft. TC relies on MAAC to provide guidance and a mechanism for safe operation. The insurance coverage included in MAAC membership is a fantastic deal. Try to get model aircraft coverage added to you homeowner's policy if you do not believe this.

There is a definition of a model aircraft in the CARs:

Total weight of which does not exceed 35 kg (77.2 pounds)
Mechanically driven or launched into flight for recreational purposes
Not designed to carry persons or other living creatures

This is why an instructor can not be paid. It would be illegal because it is a commercial not recreational purpose and therefore requires a Transport Canada operating certificate. No insurance policy will cover illegal activities.

We are able to fly model aircraft without government regulation (and be totally ignorant of the air regulations) because of he work done by MAAC and its unpaid volunteers. Industy Canada and radio frequency allocation is another area that MAAC covers for us.

Anyone who thinks MAAC is an insurance policy should be made to read all of the Canadian Air Regulations and the Industry Canada Radiocommunications regulations as a penance.

Will there be an opportunity to static show models that are (perhaps) not ready to fly? Note that although I'm signed up to the forum, I'm not yet a flying (paid-up) member of WIMAC.

I have a Sopwith Camel (Proctor kit, 56") an a Warbirds Hurricane (61") that are pretty well complete. Could add to the show?

I'll be at the funfly with family in the morning.

I'll bring my nexstar for visitors to fly so other members don't have to sacrifice their planes.

If you need help prepping in the morning I can come a little earlier to help out.

It was a great fun fly! Many old friends came to say hello and fly their planes.

Is such a pleasure to see them!

Less people but more planes than previous years....

It was a very nice relaxing funfly. A big thanks to all who worked very hard with getting the field in top shape, getting the food and BBQs and organizing the whole thing! And a big thanks to the weatherman for great weather after the rainy summer and the iffy start to the day!
