The indoor session will be starting in a couple of months. What are you going to be flying this season? My Eflite Extra 260 foamy has lasted two seasons and is looking very beat up, so I need something new. Any ideas? Ideally I would like to move over the motor (Park 300), ESC, and servos from the Extra.

Definitely not the same type of flying as the Extra, but the Parkzone Vapor looks neat. Only 15g with a single cell 70mAh battery. Anybody thinking of trying one of those? You can buy them complete apart from the TX (needs a Spektrum DSM2 compatible TX). Pylon racing a few of them would be fun!

And yes, I will still be flying my Blade 400. I want to work on flying tail-in this winter.

My Byp Yak is still in good shape ... I expect to start with it. A smaller, lighter plane would be interesting at some point though.

I got the Enticement F3P from E-Flite. I hope I can learn indoor.

I was very impressed last season with a Mini Yak flown by John Marcelissen sooooo, I bought one together with Ronald and Shawn. I thought it was the ideal size and type for flying indoors.
So, you will see me there splattering the walls with plastic foam...

Demolition Derby, here I come!

Ah, the smell of CA when you get in the gym....

Andrew, Ronald and I will soon be picking up "The Click (http://www.icare-rc.com/click.htm)" at I-Care in Boucherville. Have a look, nice plane nice price. We could pick up more if wanted. The mini yaks were ordered in bulk last fall, I,m not sure if any are left .

If I was to go with one of these Click planes, what else do I need?

I haven't a clue about these when it comes to electrics...

Which engine?
Which ESC?
Which battery pack?
Which and how many servos?
72MHz Receiver, how many channels?

I have two chargers that can handle Lithium Polys (Hobby Cycle Elite and FMA CellPro 4S Balancing Charger), do I need a balancer as well or are they inside the pack themselves?

Oh-my-god!
The last two bastions of not-electric-indoor-flying are falling!
Xed and I!
I am just doing it to exercise my rudder thumb (Alix would be proud of me).
Xed, I feel your pain.... is a confusing world out there...
I found that for practically every different electric plane you want to fly you need different motors, different ESC, different batteries... and the servos are more expensive than their weight in gold...
Even the CA is not your common variety...
Well, at least you have the chargers.... maybe!

Tell me, why don't we keep on sticking to photgraphy?

I just get my. the AeroScout 16'' 2ch RTF.Throtle and rudder that all...funny. Any way,the Riot 20'' is on operation table and won't be the same after all.,weaker, slower and tuff to control:cool:

I have a new Clik and a new micro yak ready to go.
I found them both great.
Just don't expect them to be as durable as some of the others.

Set up on both

Hacker A10-15S motor, X-5 Controller.
Berg microstamp L receiver.
JR S185 servos(6 gm)

Battery, Electrifly 300 mah. 2 cell.
- modified it, removed their connectors and installed JST connector, removed their wrapping.
- standard weight 22gm, modified weight 18 gm.

The Clik weighs in at 5oz and the micro Yak 4oz. Incuding battery.

I picked up a GWS Tiger Moth last season but never got around to assembling it.
I hope 2 months is enough time for me to have it ready for the start of the indoor. :D

The last day is March 24th because we skip the week of Winter break, March 3rd.

I thought that they were not skipping the Winter break this year?

The school is closed and while the new mgr offered to have it opened, I did not see any advantage in changing last year's schedule. Also from experience I've found it best not to rely on schools during the break.

What are the size restrictions for helis / planes for indoor?
Thanks

Dwight Macdonald
2008-11-12, 10:13 PM
For planes ~ 10oz or ~ 300g max.

For helis ~ 16oz max? ... perhaps the heli pilots can comment on this.

Andrew Fernie

We have allowed the 450 class of helis (e.g. Trex 450), but nothing larger. Also, no fiberglass or carbon blades - woodies only.

My latest indoor airplane, the Vantage from http://fancyfoam.com/Vantage.htm is 120g. It should fly like a dream in the gym. I only flew it a few times outside this week and it flies really slow with great control. My friend Robert got his at 103g with more work on cutting the wires, removing the platic on the servo connectors, etc.

Moteur: Eflite Park 250
ESC: Castle Creation 6A
Batterie: Apache 2S300mha
Servos: GMS 303 & 306
Helice: APC 8 x 3.8 SF
Receveur: Spektrum AR6100

A friend wants to sell his Bipe Yak with motor and servos. If interested I could get more details.
The bipe is a little on the heavy side but been a bipe make it flyable in the gym. There were 3 of these flying last year.

Xavier,

Is that plane a foam skeleton covered with some form of film? The web site mentions a "milled" version, but I can't figure out how it is made. Did you mail order, or is there a local supplier?

Andrew

Xavier
2008-11-15, 11:31 PM
The milled version is made of 3mm depron machined down in many area to about 1-1.5mm. It's probably done with a router from the marks visible. It's not done with heat. It is so thin that you could almost see thru... The rigidity is provided by the small carbon rods.

I saw the plane fly at the NEAT fun fly in September and it wasn't available here so we ordered 6 at once for 4 guys. With shipping and exchange that had just gone up when we ordered, it was about 85$ for the white milled version.

I flew the Vantage indoor today and it is the best indoor airplane I have flown. It could fly very slow and precise. It only needed to adjust the trims and then I move the batterie to change the CG a bit. My 3 friends who also got one were also very happy with theirs.

Also this morning I flew my new own designed foamie that has been a project on my list for a long time. Looking at the picture, you will understand why I call Super-G.
The power was enough on 3S to fly around but on 4S it could hover. I have been very carefull on the first two flights and I will do some more work now that I know it flies.
The pictures are a little dark but you'll get the idea.

I have done a few mods on the big foamie and flew it again this morning. It's not perfect yet but I did a few rolls, harrier and inverted harrier, hovering, knife edge. It takes most of the 100ft x 100ft gym :-)

Here are some nice shots by Paul G.

I plan to rejoin WIMAC for the 09 season with my 6 year old. 08 got very busy and never got the chance to get to the club. :( For those of you who don't know me, I'm the one with Albert's old Kavalier. I'll be bringing a parkzone cessna and coaxial heli to the indoor. :D

Here is a little video of my new indoor plane : 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrtHvgw-Xsc'
It doesn't seem to be working with the direct link. Copy the address in your browser and it should be fine. Enjoy :-)
