Thanks Bob, that was an awesome display and a fabulous story. I have worked on and instructed on the electronics of Spitfires, Gloster Meteors, F86 Sabres and F84's as well as some lesser birds. But by far the most impressive thing was standinding next to the SR71, the very same one shown in the museum.
Oh yes, for Stephan, if you happen to see this, there is a Fiesler Storch hanging from the rafters.

I believe its the national air and space museum in washington DC, there's also one parked on the aircraft carrier museum in New York.

Thanks Bob for this very nice video on the SR-71.
I went to the museum in Washington DC at the end of the 90's
It is called the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

If you go in the area it is the spot to visit.
You will see lots of antiques as well as some modern airplanes and few items from the space program.

Do not believe all what the guides say: I have been told the Wright brothers aircraft was the original that made the first flight in Kitty Hawk 1903 (North Carolina) and I found on the discovery channel it was somewhere else (in a museum in Ohio if remember).
