Is that the motor you were waiting for to install in your GP Super Stearman? You will need 12 servos for the elevator installed in the tail, to balance your plane, but I must say, will be fun to watch. Only you Albert can do things like this.

That's the one Chyp Hyde was using in his Biplane 5 or 6 years ago but they had not produce it so far. 3w has some 4 cylinders.

P.S. now who can afford this, imagine airplane + engine .....15,000$ and we all know what happens enventually with our rc stuff....;)

Bob, that's the engine for my retracts...

Kevin: yes, I know what happens to our models eventually... they crash like helis!

Four tuned pipes ... interesting ... etc ... more time with assembly and maintenence than flying ... would look and sound impressive though.

Is the future electric, even for big gassers? No more glow fuel aroma or crackling exhaust note!

Jeremy, are those real photos of electric planes that can carry people? The rwo photos do not appear to be the same aircraft. Still, pretty impressive.

Brian,

They are real. The top picture is an Italian project (SkySpark) and the aircraft should fly this autumn.

The goal of the SkySpark project is to design and build a complete “ecological” aircraft. All systems will be entirely electrically powered in order to set a new world record (the aircraft will fly over 500 km at an average speed of 300 km/h).
It is a unique project as it sums 3 main competitive factors:

* Highly innovative from a technological point of view
* Totally “eco-compatible”
* Commercially very attractive

It is based on technologies at the forefront of today’s research and of great interest in the future:

* Hydrogen Fuel Cells and stocking systems
* Lithium Polymers batteries
* Electrical engine brushless

The second picture is a Boeing research project. The aircraft flew last summer in Spain. It is a converted powered glider with a fuel cell, Lypo batteries and a brushless motor.

Albert, this is the real one to salivate for.

A week ago I was admiring those jewels (read engines).

Unfortunately, to my (unpleasant) surprise the guy passed away
three days ago.
I hope they have nice flying fields in paradise.

That looks like a four stroke? If it's gas you can't fly upside down unless you have two oil tank like on full scale aerabat.

You said it Albert. Can a plane do that? I like to see it....:D
