Hi Guys.
Well as you all know I bought Kevin's old extra 300 35cc.
I did a coversion to electric.
I had to fiberglass the cowl to close the hole that was made for the muffler.
I got my electric items today and had them installed.
Items are, Scorpion S5535-160KV, Castle Creations ICE HV 160, APC 21x14E prop, 2X 6s lipos 5000mAh connected in series. In the first photo you can see a square block which I had to make in order the motor would be more forward, it requires 6" from the firewall to the end of the cowl. I don't know what this will do to my CG, I have to add some weight to the tail I think, Will see,

Awesome. Hey Rich are you drooling yet :p
I don't know if she is going to be ready for this weekend maiden, I got called in at work for tomorrow, But I will try.
Enjoy the photos.

Cheers

Hey Bill, you'll have close to 4000 WATTS of power with that setup:eek: Can't wait to hear that thing power up, are you going to remove the brake function on the ICE with the phoenix link?

Wow Bill that looks good. Can't wait to do the maiden.

You're starting to make me regret.

Kevin
P.S. that Extra is not old, it's not even a year old.

Well pretty close Rich.here's what it looks like

Amps – 74
Watts – 3108
RPM – 5400
Thrust – 26.5 pounds
Pitch Speed – 62 MPH

This gets you a little over 200 watts per pound, which is great for 3D performance

Is scary looking, I mean you can expect to see a setup up like this on the 35cc but electric? wow.

I'm home now trying to set up the ESC.

Kevin sorry about the old thing there, Since you gonna get something new this one becomes old:)

Maiden maybe tomorrow. Have to charge the batteries and change the bat connectors to something more beefier We are talking 45volts here. Mega power 12s 5000mAh

Cheers

Bill, now we know!
You must have been testing the plane today and provoked the electric storm over WIMAC, three of them.
I want to see that plane fly. Be careful it doesn't leave the wings behind on takeoff!

Wow this motor with that speed controller is just crazy!
but just a quick question, how heavy is that block of wood you added to the motor mount? wasn't it better to take off the original mount and make a new one?

E motor have no vibration if the prop is well balance. A good wood epoxi and thats it:)

It was awesome Richard. We didn't except such a power. Climbout vertical was like a rocket.
Thanks
for the pictures again Paul.
I just love my little devil on the rudder.

She flew beautifully despite the winds just a bit of tweaking left to do.

Hope next time the winds will be less so we can review all her traits.

If you are free one of these nights Kevin let me know a day ahead and I'll meet you there after work and give it another go.
I would have to get a 20x15e prop from somewhere.
