Here are my pathetic attempts at editing the transmitted video. I have not worked out how to edit the on-board recording in HD on Linda's iMac yet as my PC can't handle it.

Please, give us a rundown of all the numbers in the display. Some are obvious, others not.
Have you ever heard the expression "Too much data, no information!"
Awesome technology!

Almost right

LOS - Line of Sight - distance from plane to home in metres
mAh- power consumed from battery so far
Servo positions: Th -throttle, E - Elevator; R - Rudder; P- Pan on tracker; T -Tilt on tracker.

Speed and Altitude are both GPS derived therefore only ground speed and a poor estimate of height when you get close to the ground. To solve this issue for the next plane I will have Airspeed and Barometric Altitude derived from a pitot tube.

Boys toys.

LOS line of sight, wasn't too shure of that one too , thanks Mick :D

Forgot to say, I have also discovered how to get an artificial horizon but the guy in Russia is having a few problems with his chip supplier so has suspended production to sort it out, also for the next plane.

This week's challenge is to figure out the 3D inertial stabilisation system http://www.feiyudz.cn/a/gb2312/product/Flight%20Stabilization%20System/FY-20/2010/0802/3.html and to try to get it to fit in the plane somewhere. I will also swap the Go Pro for a lighter camera once it arrives from HKG.

More boys toys.....and you thought the dark side had the monopoly on high tech gadgets and electronics.

You surely beat us to that now!! LOL

The dark side don't have that many high teck gadgets.
Now, if you take the UAV that's a different story.
From gyros , compasses, accelerometers, gps, telemetry, osd ground station, antenna tracking just to name a few.
For me this is the way to go if you have deep pockets that is.

Cheers

LOS - Line of Sight - distance from plane to home in metres

At LOS you think you can see your plane Mick? That's 269m=807ft.

you have to rely on your OSD so you can bring it back home.

cheers

Hi Bill, it amazes me just how far away we all fly our planes, take a walk into the swamp to find a plane and even after 2-300m there are still planes in the circuit above your head. Now add in the height and calculate the hypotenuse and that is the LOS distance. Hence why I set my alert at 300m LOS, it is easy to reach and well within normal field flying on a clear day. Really pleased with the 1.3GHz video set-up compared to the previous 5.8GHz.
