i received my dsr-30 retracts finally today. It only took 4 weeks.Thank you canada customs for the great work. I will start by cuting out the foam in my wings bit by bit. i mesured the units thickness and i have 40mm of play. Its not much but its more then i need. These retracts are from EPF hobby they go for around 85.00$ and they have metal gears in them that makes them stronger. It come with a controller and have a power auto cut off incase the retracts jamme within 8 seconds to prevent draining the input battery.this little gyus look amazing .Can't wait to install them. Here is an uplaod of the retractshttp://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_s_FbZPtFA

Nice work Stephane, don't rush to get it into the air, retracts are sensitive to alignment, so spend the time to get it right.

Nice job Stéphane.

I have one question did you figure out your Wing loading. That will determine the way it flies and more importantly the way it lands(stall speed).

Great job Stephane:cool:go easy with the angle of the flap betwin 15% take off and 30% for landing:)

no kevin i havent figured out my wing loading.maybe u can explain how to do that

Wing loading is a fact betwin weight of your plane versus the lift in inch/square from the ( wing, fuselage and elevator ) of the plane. Breff, how many weight the plane can take:cool:

On the top of the home screen of this site look at "Tools"... the bottom two are "Wing load cube calculator" and "Wing load calculator".
Both are quite good at determining how a plane will fly: like a butterfly, like a bird, like a chicken or like a pig.
The wing load calculator gives you the ratio between the wing lift and the weight of the plane (the lower the better). The wing cube calculator gives you a classification of the plane's expected behavior (in the high ends are the warbirds).
Do not forget that the most important thing, specially in a warbird, is to properly determine the CG. Warbirds are notorious for problems in takeoffs (squirreling and digging the nose) and landings (digging the nose). That leaves you with the fueling, starting and flying....:D:D:D

Do not worry Stephane, this planes will fly . But as I say last friday, a planes supose to fly at 55% of the thro. If you need more thro 75%, that's mean the planes is over load. ( lest flying time)

ok thanks gyus for the info. i will do the calculation and see if she is a buterfly or a real pig .dirty dirty!!!!:D:D

Stéphane usually a Warbird is around 30-35 oz/sq foot, the bigger the plane the less it maters.

weight if in LB x 16(oz)
Wing area let say xxx sq inches / 144

then divide the weight by wing area

a glider should be around 10-12 a Cub 15

Anyways the lesson here is the higher your wing loading the less forgiving your plane is going to be but then again it could take more wind which seems to be a good thing lately:(
