I just have a feeling you will be able to pick up a plane for about 50 bucks. For someone that is looking for a cheap plane, might be the place to go.
might be worth the trip. I m sure there will be a few hobby shops there, looking for deals for resale. or to hang on their ceilings. Who knows how long the engines have not runned. Or how good the servos. So if you go, make sure you don't over pay.

By the way, those pictures are taken at the auction house, pretty messy place, you can see the store front. some of those planes look like the previous owners own designs, some odd looking planes.

Hi Albert,

Yes I did see the Tiger. I think the Tiger and the Escapade 61 are quite similar. The Tiger wing span is 70 inches and the Escapade is 68 inches so I hope that the Escapade will fly like the Tiger. I will find out next week. I hope the wind is down the runway. See you next week!

Hi guys, got a phone call from Steve our Zone director. He was at the auction, bought a plane. He said he thought he saw a WIMAC member, but did not know him. most of the planes went for over 150.00 dollars, which is more than we thought. He feels many of the people that were bidding did not know much about the hobby just wanted a plane. Like the Eagle with floats, it has a .40 engine and it was seized, and it went for 175.00 dollars, so that gives you an idea. The deal was a 40% Extra not that old with a 3W 150cc engine and it went for 850.00 dollars. So if this guy had 50 planes he got himself over 10 thousand dollars. So the lesson learnt here, is that if you want to get rid of your planes, go to an auction house. Steve bought the big float plane with a 26cc aas engine and all servos, for 165.00 dollars, could be a deal, but it is an old gas and do you know if the servos ar good. if all electronics and engine are bad, still a deal for a plane that size. If any members went, be nice to hear what they had to say about the auction.

The WIMAC guy was me, and yes the planes that were sold were fairly old and heavy, some were nice, some needed to finished and some are in need of repair.
I tried to keep a bid a maximum of $100.00 for descent ones but there was bidding frenzy going and I didn't get the Folker I wanted, but I did win this one.

Was an interesting aution.

I believe they are 40 size and are old, I'm considering replacing them with .46ax.
The price was fair for the size of the plane and it's in pretty good condition.

It's actually called a "PBY Catalina"

Also there was one guy who purchased 4 planes avg. price of 200.00

It looked smaller hanging from the ceiling, it's 107" wing span and aprox. 5' long.
Has one saito 70 four stroke, now the task to get it flyable.

Is the fuse fiberglass. If so, it is from a very old kit. The picture you are posting is that the plane or is that just a picture you got on the net. If it is, looks pretty good. only one saito 4 stroke, what was the other engine, or was it missing. 105" wingspan, should be a good flyer, especially off water. that is what I wold do, get it ready for float, you have an unlimited runway, and if one engine fails, you can shut the other engine, and land anywhere. Nothing like flying on water.

The other engine was missing, yes that was a picture from the net same color scheme.
The fuse is fiberglass but in pretty good condition.
Good advice about flying off water, I guess I can remove the landing gear and plug the holes.
