Anything around 5 to 6 oz is good for 3D. I'm waiting for some Dualsky planes should be good.

There is also the Click but more $$$$(don't forget they get hit a lot at the demolition derby:D)

Looks like the click for me. What's your call on motor and servos

Actually, the Click is not a 3D plane, it is an indoor F3P pattern plane. A much better choice for indoor 3D as well as being able to perform F3P would be the Crack Yak Lite available from Icare. It is made from EPP which is significantly more durable than the Depron used for the Click.

For either plane, use either Hacker A10-15S or Axi 2203/46, Castle Thunderbird 9 or Phoenix 10, GWS 8x4 or 8x4.3 prop, 2 cell 325 mah lipo, Futaba S3114, Futaba 3154 or JR DS185, JR DS188 or Dymond D47s on 'elevator and rudder only'.

As far as answering your question regarding the 'best' indoor plane, there are many planes available that far exceed the planes mentionned above. If you're interested, visit FancyFoam.com and have a look at indoor depron planes such as the MX2 and Fenix V2.

Another great indoor pattern plane is the RT Sirius Eleven:

I had 2 or 3 Clik (got one still unbuild too) and I also have a Dualski Breeze Pro. While they fly and weight about the same, the Breeze is a lot more fragile. The foam they used is not Depron and it doesn't flex at all so it breaks easily. I broke some pieces while building it.

It all depend what you mean by 3D.
The Clik and many other F3P plane will do mostly everything. What they won't do is the 'tumble' and knife edge spin or maybe even flat spin. They are made to be stable and smooth. They however do a lot more than most people could do and they are forgiving because of their relative stability. They hover and torque roll very well if they are properly setup.

The cream of the cream for me in that class is the Symmetric from Donatas Design that I am building right now. http://www.pauzuolis-rc.com/
The Vantage (I had 2 plus one still unbuild) and Osiris from Fancy Foam are very good too but smaller and faster.

If you want something more extreme, some of the Fancy Foam mentionned earlier are good and Donatas Design has the Arrow V5

Obviously you have to be carefull when watching videos as some of these guys fly every day so they could get any airplane do anything thye want :-)

Thank you guys for all the suggestions. The Click Evo was the choice. Worst instructions ever but once you dove in to the build it all fell into place. I would appreciate your comments on the pics and feel free to make suggestions on improving this baby. Also if you know of any special programming for the Dx7 I should use. Maiden flight Sundays night. Keep posted for the crash pics, probably during first trimming flight.

Hi Lorne,

You should swap that heavy APC prop for a lighter GWS slow fly prop, if that's an axi 2203/46 on there then you should use an 8x4.3 Slowfly or 8x4 Hyperdrive prop. I see that you're using the MGM Compro esc from Icare, do you have any motor cogging (manifests as motor hesitation) on initial start-up?

I don't know about the EVO 3 but on my Click 2 I put the Lipo on top it would balance better for a more neutral when upside down + easier to change

I just finished mine tonight and plan to try it tomorrow at the Eastern Canadian Championnship in Cobourg. I will use my Symmetric for the contest because I have flown it before (once) but there is some open flying before and after.

I agree with Kevin for the battery position. You have to check if the plane stand verticaly when suspended by the prop or motor. You choose were to put the battery then.

I would suggest to add rods between the lower wing strut attachment on the fuse and the upper attachement of the gear on each sides. Also I have rods stiffening the forward section of the fuse up to the motor mount like in the back.

You guys are the best. Wow I wish saw those pics before I built this. I really felt like I was in the dark with those instructions. I will pick up a new prop ASAP and relocate the battery. When you say put the battery on top. Do you mean under the horizontal fuselage part or literally on top of the fuselage?

I was supposed to use my Symmetric for the contest this past weekend but I was having trouble flying it so switched to the Clik Evo at the last minute. I did a trim flight on Saturday morning and then the 4 contest rounds. It was a bit of an unknown specially that I had not flown the all schedule properly before. All that to say that the Clik Evo performed very well. The Symmetric flies slower but is more fragile. I will get use to it and use it for the next contest whenever it is.
