I have 4 new ones ready. They have all flown already.
The 2 symmetrics are the ones I plan to use in Germany at the first indoor aerobatic world championnships. The Clik is a lots of fun to fly but a little too fast for that event. The Yak 54 is an experiment to see how a good are the commercialy available foamies. I also surrendered and got a Night Vapor !

And no Kevin, I am not planning to have midairs with any them :-)

I finished another one today. The Arrow V5 from Donatas Design.

Moteur Eflite Park 250
ESC Eflite 10A
Propeler GWS 8x4.7
Servo digitaux Tahmazo
Batteries Highmax 2S350mAh
Poids 5.25oz/149g

First flight probably Saturday in Granby

I still have kits for a Vantage and a Quasar on the shelf, plus 2 Excel in the mail :-)

I wanted to make something to hold my foamies safely in the house and it's finaly done. There could be another set of rods on the opposite side for more planes. The same could be used for small planes.

Wy on the ESC 10amp from E-Flite, the lipo auto detection don't work... I mean, if I want to use a 2s then change for a 3s the ESC cut off stop the motor right a way:confused:

So the E-Flite default setting is for a 3s but I need to programe it if I want to fly on 2s....The gym walls come faster on 3s for me, I should go on 2s:D

Xavier
2013-01-06, 09:16 PM
If you select option 3, it will take wathever you connect and shut down when it's 70% of the original voltage. Just be sure you don't connect a uncharged 3S because it will kill it :-)

Only 2 pictures from me.
1) The 3 planes I flew. They all survived even if a shark attacked the Yak and took a piece off the rudder.
2) The 14 batteries I used during the evening. I flew in almost every session possible. It maybe too much :-)

My latest indoor build. I brought it back from my trip in Germany.
Spies from Donatas Design & Fabien Turpeau. 111g with a 250mha battery. Glavak motor, Glavak carbon prop, Hitec HS5035-HD. It flies a lot slower than the Symmetric I used for the contest so it makes things easier.

Here is a video of the Symmetric at the contest in Germany:

I wanted to try the hobbyking foamies for a long time so I finally did order one. Actually I ordered 4 at once to split the shipping cost. Galaxy, Dual Storm, Saturn and MX2. I received them yesterday and the MX2 is ready to fly.
It took about 6 hours to build without rushing. Remimber that it's not my first foamie build :-) I used the included motor plus a 6A ESC, 4ch RX, 3 BMS-303DD servos and Zippy 350mha battery. All from HK.
My scale need a battery so I don't know the weight yet but it feels light. I am going to Granby this afternoon to try it.

I flew the MX2 Saturday in Granby and found it flies fast and the motor was too powerful. I replaced it with a HK 2204 and flew it again Sunday in Boucherville. It weights 124g (4.45oz) ,flies a little slower I think and the power is more manageable. It is still a nervous plane more than a smooth flying plane. I may try another prop next time. I should have try that first :-) I will also install the brakes that came with it.

Plane with motor & prop 43$
ESC 8$
RX 10$
Servo 3 x 13$
Battery 3$
Total: 103$ plus shipping (63$ for 4 planes)

I can’t come tomorrow but I may be able to come fly next week. I will probably have another plane ready by then and the MX2 maybe for sale …
