Very nice!

What is the physical explanation of the "wall" near the tail ?
Any aerodynamist around here?

It looks like it was done at a resort, lot's of nice girls watching. So that water shape must come from suction. Of course of the jet intake.

I think its more a combination of the deadspot (low pressure behind a moving object) and ground effect. It reminds me of a paper I had to do in gas dynamics (some 30 years ago! yikes!) on the explanation of the dimples of a golf ball. Without them, the air passing around the golf ball creates a large deadspot that slows down the ball. Funny, but the dimples hasn't help my drives much. I need to get the ball in the air for it to work.
By the video you can see the F-18 has great aerodynamics as the low pressure area is almost flat compared to a larger deadspot which would create more of a rooster tail. My 2 bits.

You may have seen commercials promoting this; the Discovery Channel is having a special called ?Jetstream?, which is about training Canadian Fighter pilots on the F-18. It was filmed in Cold Lake and will be broadcast for 8 consecutive Tuesdays, starting tomorrow at 10PM.

More information about it can be found on the following link.

Perhaps you will see a Prandtl-Glauert Singularity in one of the broadcasts.
