My favorite tool was the heat gun.
I would tack the edges, let say off a wing, in several spots and making sure I pulled it as tight as possible and I would keep the wing tip for last and really pulled hard and put the heat gun really close as soon as you feel the covering starting to streach you pull it down on the wing tip edge.
It would make a great looking wing tip no wrinkles, also don't be afraid to put the heat gun really close when shrinking the whole surface, I never had it melt so far, you just keep moving slowly.
