Those who remember me! Krish
Hey guys, I was and still am a Scale Aircraft builder and flyer from the past decades!
I am begining an old re-construction and hopefully completion of a scale model of a WWII Fieseler Fi 156C-3 Storch from the Eastern Front, 1943! I had contracted with a scratch Builder in about 2000ish to build it for me and paid him much for his time and materials. After I new what this aircraft acheived in WWII, I also wanted a model of it for myself. When I left the club in March 2006, I put the almost completed contruction in storage, which remained there until 2 days ago. I have now begun the process to complete and hopefully fly it later in this year once I am happy with my completion and possible assistance from our other members, who may find this an interestingly amazing aircraft!' Photos will follow! Last edited by Krish; 2023-01-12 at 04:50 PM. Reason: Add some Ptotos |

It is an interesting plane indeed. I got one in about 2009 that had a .90. I took the motor out and installed an AXI on 6S. It was flying ok but I had issue with the landing gear that had too much loose in all the joins. It was cool to watch in flight with it's different look. I painted it in frencf color has it was flown in France even after the ww2. I still have it but the motor has been used in another plane since.
Post pictures of you progress sometime. https://photos.app.goo.gl/8fmspCMqXA55EJvU7 |

Hi Krish-
Happy New Year. Since Interac has been used, the Interac payment does not automatically update the member status (unlike PayPal, which did). On balance Interac is a much better solution for volunteers processing membership payments. Florin, who is our Membership Director, has quite a few renewals to process at this time of year, so please be patient - he has a job and kids as well ![]() The best way to avoid any interruption to your active membership status is to send your Interac payment at least a week before the beginning of the calender/membership year. |

Hello Fellas,
I am seeking some assistance, at the AGM I indicated I will convert my Storch to electric use, but since my history was always Glo and Gas engines. If any of you could assist me by estimating a battery powered system I could atempt to use in it would be appreciated Some specs that may assist you: Wingspan - 9 feet (3 meters) Allup weight 10 to 15 pounds with all gear installed. Including up to 10 servos, receiver and battery. Airfoil is flat bottom with added Fowler Flaps and leading edge spoilers, Max air speed estimated between 20 to 30 MPH. Flight Characteristics is similar to a large Super Cub. Any assistance will be appreciated, will retire the original 40cc gas engine it was desiged to use. I also plan to install my Original Futaba 9Z nine channel tansmitter and associted R/C equipment I left in Jamaica accidentally which were initially approved for Canada and USA and still uses 72MhZ unless there is major objections. I am not yet comfy with my current Spectrum DX9 TX with quite large frequency differences. I apologize for not being able to cummunicate in French even thought I have lived in Quibec since 1965 with my native tongue is English from Jamaica. |

RC Plane Labs episode 69 on Spotify
Hi Krish! Saw your message & thought I’d offer somewhat of a suggestion
![]() Like you I’m obviously a glow engine flier, but I was recently listening to the RC Plane Lab podcast on Spotify and on episode 69, they talk about motors, ESC and an example on how to spec an electric system for an airplane. Worth the listen, you may find it informative as I have. They talk about it on the 1hr mark I believe. Link also attached below, hopefully it works. I’m sure you’ll get better guidance from our fellow members too. Good luck and have fun with the build! https://open.spotify.com/episode/00y...q6knOxTHLsuCcG |

First you select the power of your electric motor. Electric motor power is stated in watts. 750 watts = 1 horsepower. An easy way to estimate power needs is to use 100 watts per pound for sport flying, 150 for aggressive aerobatics, 200 watts per pound for 3D flying
You can buy the motor from Amazon and then you get an automatic recommendation on the ESC and battery that most people bought with that motor. You connect the motor to the ESC, then the ESC to the receiver and the battery. If the motor spins the wrong way, you need to swap two of the 3 wires from the motor to ESC. But always safety first: Make sure the ECS supports the battery voltage. Never install the propeller until your ESC, receiver and transmitter are fully configured. For the size of your plane, the propeller is very dangerous, be very careful. Good luck with your electric conversion. You will love its convenience and simplicity. |
