» WIMAC |

WIMAC is an organization located on the West Island of Montreal that exists solely to provide its members the means to enjoy the exciting hobby of flying all types of model aircraft, including radio-controlled airplanes, helicopters, drones and sailplanes. Also, flying using FirstPersonView is becoming more popular.
We will be holding our usual weekly indoor sessions on Tuesday evenings at College Charlemagne from January to March 2020 (see details here). However, as things stand, our current outdoor field will no longer be available after December 2019. We are looking at options to relocate to another outdoor site and will provide updates on this page for non-members.

Version Francaise en bas.
===========================
A group of FPV flyers composed by Andrew, Tarek and Peter got together to draw the rules regulating FPV flying. They have been approved by the Directors.
======================================
WIMAC FPV Rules
1. General
1. The following rules govern all First Person View (FPV) flight operations at WIMAC.
2. FPV is defined to mean any flight in which the pilot controls the aircraft (airplane, helicopter, multi-rotor, or other) through other than direct view of the aircraft from the ground. Typically this means that an image from an on-board camera is viewed on a monitor or through a helmet mounted display (HMD).
2. MAAC FPV Rules
1. All FPV pilots should become aware of the MAAC FPV rules (available on the MAAC web site). Note that these rules are part of the MAAC safety code, adherence to which is mandatory.
2. WIMAC rules supplement the MAAC rules, and explain how they are implemented in the WIMAC environment.
3. FPV Qualifications
1. All FPV flyers shall adhere to these rules and demonstrate their flying proficiency in order to be qualified for FPV flight by a WIMAC-approved authority.
2. Separate qualifications are required for airplane, multirotor, and heli FPV.
3. Airplane pilots must be qualified “Solo” flyers.
4. No-fly Zones and Pilot Stations
1. All pilots shall ensure that they remain clear of any houses or people, even if the area is within visual range.
2. All WIMAC rules regarding airplane and heli pilot stations, flying areas and no-fly areas shall be respected.
5. Spotter
1. As required by the MAAC FPV rules, all pilots flying FPV shall be accompanied by a spotter at all times, and the spotter must maintain direct visual contact at all times. No flying beyond visual range is permitted. ... [Read More]

Field Information |
Jan 10, 2007 - 1:08 AM - by xed
|
Roll Call
In the interests of safety, please take the time to announce your intentions to go to the field. Flying alone can be dangerous and is discouraged at our club.
Field Access Procedures
The gate is to be kept closed at all times due to the fact that people have been dumping on the property behind the parking lot and the city is forcing the school to pay for the clean-up. Therefore, close the gate after you come in as well as after you leave.
Garbage Disposal
You are responsible for any garbage you bring to the field. Please do not leave any mess behind for others to deal with.
Lawn Cutting
All aircraft are to be grounded while the lawn is being cut and do not make the guy wait until you are through flying. He is not paid by the hour. If he is losing his time, this could result in higher grass cutting fees for the club. This should be obvious but apparently it is not.
